Video that demonstrates how to utilize the app concept.
Back in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic started I had the opportunity to experience the world in a way that I’ve never experienced it before. As a full time college student living on campus at the time, one of my biggest insecurities was going to an on campus eatery and picking up my food because I knew that waiting in a line amongst other people could expose me to COVID-19. Because of this newfound insecurity, I wanted to do research based on this topic and find out if there is any possible solution for this.
While during my secondary research phase for the concept, I thought it would be a great idea to find expert articles related to my topic. I browsed through statista.com and found a couple of important insights that helped guide me. Those insight were as that 69% of college students practiced social distancing everyday and 60% of college students participated in COVID-19 related hygiene practices daily. These insights showed me that even after the pandemic there was still a great number of people that felt as though the practices learned during the pandemic were still needed.
Although research online was a good source of information I wanted to ensure that I have a great source of information and the best way to do that was to go outside and find some students that live on a college campus and ask them a few questions in real time. Here are a few of the insights that I got from some of the interviews.
From reviewing my research, I was able to come up with the conclusion that there is a need for an on campus delivery service three years after the COVID-19 pandemic. My goal is to create an app concept for Kean University's residential students that would allow an option for residents to get food delivered directly to their dorm room. It is prevalent that there are already existing food delivery services however, none of them can deliver directly to someones dorm room at Kean University.
